Summer is a time for kids to enjoy the sunshine, make new friends, and engage in exciting activities. One fantastic way to keep your keiki entertained and enriched during the summer months is by enrolling them in the Summer Fun Oahu program. This program offers a wide range of fun and educational activities that are sure to keep your child active and happy throughout the summer. Understanding the Summer Fun Oahu Program

The Summer Fun Oahu program is organized by the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Parks and Recreation. It is designed to provide children with a safe and enjoyable summer experience filled with activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, field trips, and more. The program is open to keiki aged 5 to 13 and is held at various parks and facilities across the island.

 

Program Dates and Locations

Before signing up your child, it's essential to know the program dates and locations. The Summer Fun Oahu program typically runs from early June to late July, with specific dates varying each year. Locations include community centers, parks, and schools throughout Oahu, making it convenient for families across the island to participate. 

The 2024 Summer Fun Program will be offered on weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday, June 10 through Friday, July 26, 2024 (not including holidays on June 11 and July 4). Summer Plus activities, before and/or after the regular program times, will be offered at various sites.  Those locations are indicated in the list of Summer Fun sites below. 

Children must be six years old before August 1, 2024 and not older than 13 years old by July 28, 2024 to take part in the program. Summer Fun welcomes Junior Leaders, who must be 13 years old before August 1, 2024 and no older than 17 years old by July 28, 2024 to qualify.

Separate seasonal classes and activities, commonly referred to as enrichment classes, will be offered at select sites. More information about those programs is included on the bottom of this website. 

 

Registration Process

To register your child for the Summer Fun Oahu program, follow these steps:

a. Visit the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Parks and Recreation website or contact their office for registration information. b.Fill out the registration form with your child's details, emergency contact information, and any special accommodations or medical needs they have. c.Pay the registration fee, which covers the cost of activities, supplies, and field trips. d.Submit the registration form and payment by the specified deadline to secure your child's spot in the program.

Registration for keiki participants will begin from Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10, 2024 based on geographic park district under the following timetable:

-District 1 (East Honolulu) May 13th from 5pm

-District 2 (West Honolulu) May 14th from 5pm

-District 3 (Leeward Oahu) May 15th from 5pm

-District 4 (Windward & North Oahu) May 16th from 5pm

-District 5 (Central Oahu) May 17th from 5pm

Program Fees and Financial Assistance

The cost of the Sumer Fun Oahu program varies depending on the child's age, the number of weeks they attend, and whether they qualify for any discounts or financial assistance. The program offers reduced fees for siblings and discounts for military families. Additionally, financial assistance is available for families who demonstrate need through the Department of Parks and Recreation's scholarship program.
